Led by community leaders, the Coral Gables Community Foundation provides the philanthropic conduit to connect individuals and corporations looking to positively impact the success of the community. Celebrating 25 years, the Foundation has been at the forefront of the evolving needs of Coral Gables while effectively bringing together beneficiaries and benefactors to fund programs with the greatest impact and benefit to “The City Beautiful.”
Established in September 1991 by community leaders, the Coral Gables Community Foundation, through its discretionary, donor-advised, and scholarship funds has helped youth, elderly, and disabled, and has provided dental care for needy children, sponsored cultural activities, awarded academic, dance, and music scholarships, and offered seminars to educate the public on important health, finance, and estate-planning issues, awarding over $5 million to worthy causes.
A nonprofit §501(c)(3) organization, the mission of the Coral Gables Community Foundation is to foster programs and initiatives that enhance the quality of life for people living and working in “The City Beautiful” Coral Gables.

Cinemateque’s Coral Gables Art Cinema ( a 144-seat art cinema on the ground floor of the Coral Gables Museum parking garage building) was made possible by a matching funds donation from the Harry and Mary Perrin Fund (administered by The Foundation) to the City. The cinema space is also available for rent for private events. The Foundation continues its support of the Cinema as it provided a grant to fund the Miami International Children’s Film Festival in 2014 and in 2016, a grant to support the Cinema’s 70mm Film Festival, which is the first of its kind in South Florida.
The Foundation served as the incubator for this exciting initiative. The beautiful old Police and Fire Station on Salzedo Avenue became the site of a museum, art gallery, and lecture hall that has become a popular community gathering space. Free live music is frequently offered on the patio along Salzedo Avenue. The Foundation continues its support of the Coral Gables Museum as it provided a grant to the Museum to support Family Day – a free public program that provides exhibit-inspired educational activities for children and families.
The Foundation is proud to support this unique program at our local High School. Students in this program have demonstrated their culinary skills at our annual kitchen tour event. Created in 2013, as a result of proceeds from the Tour of Kitchens event, the Culinary Arts Scholarship Fund will provide financial support to students seeking further study in the culinary arts.
A private/public initiative, The PARKnership Fund, created by William ‘Bill’ Kerdyk, has been successful in creating new parks, enhancing existing ones, and restoring historic fountains in “The City Beautiful” for the enjoyment of residents today and for future generations. Their most recent project raised funds for The Alhambra Water Tower.
Created in January of 2012, the Ponce Society of Young Professionals (PSYP) is made up of young professionals with an interest in giving back to the Coral Gables community. Among their recent projects are the Dress Shirt and Tie Drive to benefit the Coral Gables Senior High School Football Team, as well as Holiday Baskets for Seniors.
