The Ponce Society of Young Professionals, a newly organized committee dedicated to keeping Coral Gables a thriving, enjoyable community, is having its kickoff social event Thursday, June 21, 6-8 p.m., at Cibo wine bar, 45 Miracle Mile.

The Ponce Society was founded in October 2011 as the young professionals outreach of the Coral Gables Community Foundation. The committee’s role is to support the foundation in carrying out its mission of enhancing the quality of life in Coral Gables, and in getting more young professionals involved in foundation initiatives and activities.

The Ponce Society has been involved in all recent Coral Gables Community Foundation events, and has established its own annual holiday basket program.

Admission to the inaugural happy hour Thursday is $15, which includes a drink ticket, appetizers and a raffle ticket. The Ponce Society will hold additional social events to further its outreach, and has created a fund at the foundation to support its initiatives.
