14 Sep Coral Gables Community Foundation Announces Honorees to be Feted November 7th at L’Art de Recevoir
CORAL GABLES, Fla. (September 14, 2020) – It’s a beautiful life thanks to those who make Coral Gables shine as brightly as the City of Lights. On November 7th, in one spectacular and unprecedented evening, seven of Coral Gables finest community leaders will be feted as the Coral Gables Community Foundation presents, L’Art D’Recevoir, an intimate “chez vous” dining experience.
New for 2020, and in keeping with these extraordinary times, the annual black-tie fundraiser The Biltmore Ball to Benefit the Coral Gables Community Foundation – has been transformed into a très chic, in-home fine dining experience where the City’s most gracious hosts and hostesses open their exquisite homes and gardens in support of the Coral Gables Community Foundation. While there won’t be a band, dance floor or crowded ballroom, the time-honored tradition of recognizing the City’s finest will continue in this special at-home celebration.
This year, the Coral Gables Community Foundation pays tribute to retired attorney and local philanthropist, Bill Bonn, past Chairman of the Foundation Board and Chair Emeritus, with the Legacy Award, the Foundation’s highest accolade. The Education Award presented by Trish & Dan Bell will be awarded to Dr. Michael Zinner, the CEO and Executive Medical Director of the Miami Cancer Institute and proud Coral Gables Senior High School alumni, who has brought world class cancer care to Miami giving hope and novel, targeted treatments and therapies to cancer patients and their families.
Meg Daly, best known for her advocacy in bringing The Underline, Miami’s 10-mile linear park and urban trail to Miami, will receive this year’s Arts & Culture Award. When it comes to philanthropy and support of the Community Foundation, few compare to the generosity of Matthew Meehan. Matthew will receive this year’s Philanthropy Award in recognition of his many years of generous service and support of the Coral Gables Community Foundation.
The Jerry Santeiro Community Award is being presented to long-time Foundation supporter and a leader in the wealth management field, David Evensky of Evensky & Katz/Foldes Financial. Mayda Cisneros, renowned local designer will receive the Foundation’s inaugural Gables Beautiful Award in appreciation of her inspirational talent and reputation for luxury couture in Coral Gables. Famed Gables High graduate and Super Bowl winner, Jonathan Vilma, will receive this year’s Sports & Wellness Award presented by Doctors Hospital and the Miami Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Institute.
L’Art De Recevoir draws its inspiration from the City of Lights French toasting culture and celebrating the luminous hosts and hostesses in Coral Gables, whose art of living and entertaining guests is bar none. Thirty of the city’s most gracious hosts and hostesses will open their homes for a lavish meal prepared by Le Basque catering, the city’s most revered caterer who will deliver three course meals to each of the hosts, while benefitting the Coral Gables Community Foundation.
Co-chaired for the sixth consecutive year by Sissy DeMaria-Koehne, and for the third consecutive year by Lauren Harrison-Brown, this year’s benefit will transport patrons through an evening of enchantment and unparalleled elegance in the city’s finest dining rooms, gardens and courtyards.
“We are privileged to honor Coral Gables finest, those making this a better place for all of us to live, work and enjoy the fruits of life. We are so grateful to our hosts and hostesses who are graciously opening up their spectacular homes, gardens and courtyards on this one very special evening in support of the Coral Gables Community Foundation’s mission,” said Sissy DeMaria-Koehne, event Chair.
