The Coral Gables Community Foundation is pleased to welcome Dr. Sadia Raja as the newest member of its Board of Directors. Sadia is a Doctor of Pharmacy at South Miami Hospital and has been a resident of Coral Gables since 2013, where she enjoys living and raising her family. The family resides in a historic 1920’s home in the Italian village, where they spend considerable time forming close bonds with their neighbors. Sadia is mother to a 9-year-old daughter and a 5-year-old son, who both attend Sunset Elementary School.
Sadia was born in Saudi Arabia and raised in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where her family still lives. She moved to the United States in 1997 as a foreign student to study English and pursue a career in the Pharmaceutical Sciences. Sadia’s husband, Dr. Carlos Alfonso, is an Interventional Cardiologist at the University of Miami, Associate Professor of Medicine and Cardiology Fellowship Director at UM and Jackson Hospital.
Sadia’s volunteer efforts include being an active member of the Friends of Gables High and serving as its Secretary and as a Board Member. She also enjoys her time as a volunteer and supporter of the Refugee Assistance Alliance, which helps recent refugees from Asia, Africa and the Middle East in South Florida as well as her time as a past member of the Villagers.
