Foundation Board Member Selected to Judicial Nominating Commission
Vivian C. De Las Cuevas, Esq, Partner at Holland & Knight and Foundation Board member, was recently selected as a Member of the Federal Judicial Nominating Commission of Florida (JNC) by Congressman Alcee Hastings. In this important role, Vivian is tasked with providing the Florida Congressional delegation with recommendations for highly qualified and diverse candidates for U.S. Attorney, U.S. Marshal, and U.S. District Court nominations. Congratulations Vivian!
Grantee Spotlight: Coral Gables Fire Department Cadet Post 349
The Coral Gables Fire Department Cadet Post 349 proudly displays their new uniforms purchased with funds from a Coral Gables Community Foundation grant. The Coral Gables Fire Fighters Cadet program offers high school students between the ages of 14 and 18 the opportunity to explore careers in the fire rescue service. In operation since the early 2000’s, off duty firefighters serve as advisors to provide mentorship, training and community service coordination.

The Great American Cleanup, the nation’s largest community improvement program, engages volunteers to create positive change and lasting impact in local communities. Dr. Edmund and Liz Parnes featured in “Rooms we Love”

Dr. Edmund Parnes and Foundation Board member, Liz Parnes were recently featured in Coral Gables Magazine’s “Rooms we Love” series. The library of the Parnes’ home with its dark tones of the walls, the mill work and the fireplace all enhance the feeling of warmth in their library. “Having the light stream in during the day and city lights in the evening make this room a very special place to relax, listen to wonderful music, sip cocktails and enjoy a good book”, says Liz. Liz shares her gift for design and entertainment as an involved committee member of the Tour of Kitchens.
