Coral Gables Community Foundation Presents ‘A Gables Odyssey’

An Epic Greek Themed Evening Benefitting the Coral Gables Community Foundation

Coral Gables, FL — Greek is the word. On Saturday, October 23rd, Coral Gables – the cradle of civilization in Miami – will once again play host to an epic in-home entertaining and dining experience benefitting the Coral Gables Community Foundation.

This year’s theme is a Gables Odyssey. Hercules and Venus, Aphrodite and Zeus, Gods and Goddesses of Coral Gables will don togas and attire reminiscent of their favorite Greek Gods and Goddesses as they embark on a cultural and culinary cruise to the Isles of Greece. Mykonos, Crete and Scorpios to toast the epicenter of philosophy, mathematics, astronomy and medicine.

For the second year in a row the Foundation’s most important fundraiser has been transformed into a “Homeric”, in-home fine dining experience where the City’s most gracious hosts and hostesses open their exquisite homes and gardens in support of the Coral Gables Community Foundation.

Co-Chair Sissy DeMaria Koehne, who has chaired the annual fundraiser for the past seven years, once again pairs with Lauren Harrison Brown for the fourth year in a row to present an unprecedented evening under the Zodiac. This year’s benefit will transport patrons through an evening of enchantment and unparalleled elegance in the City’s finest dining rooms, gardens and courtyards. Music, laughter, lively conversation, togas and costumes reminiscent of Gods and Goddesses will rule the night.

A Gables Odyssey draws its inspiration from Greek culture and will celebrate with 30 luminous Gods and Goddesses whose zest for living and entertaining guests is bar none and who will open their beautiful homes for a lavish meal prepared by Le Basque catering, the City’s most revered caterer who will deliver three course meals so guests may dine on an epicurean dinner of select mezes, horiatiki salads, spanakopita, moussaka grilled fish and meats and baklava and other divinely decadent treats.

“We are delighted to honor Coral Gables finest, those making this a better place for all of us to live, work and enjoy the fruits of life. We are so grateful to our hosts and hostesses who are graciously opening their spectacular homes, gardens and courtyards on this one very special evening in support of the Coral Gables Community Foundation’s mission,” said Sissy DeMaria-Koehne, event Chair and long-time Foundation Board Member.

“This is our most important fundraiser of the year. We look forward to once again celebrating intimately among our closest friends and family while we toast the City we all love so dearly.” Said Mary Snow, Executive Director of the Coral Gables Community Foundation.

Greek Odyssey will begin at 7PM on Saturday, October 23rd at exquisite homes across Coral Gables. Attire is Toga or your attire reminiscent of your favorite Gods and Goddesses. For the first time, participation begins with a $1,000 Merrick Society donation and table sponsorships start at $3,500 and range to $8,000.
