CORAL GABLES, FLA. (April 23, 2024) When the clock strikes twelve, the jazz hits a high note, Champagne flows, martinis shake, gin pours, and swans swoon- it’s a quintessential Manhattan piano bar.
On Friday, October 18th, patrons of the Coral Gables Community Foundation annual benefit will cozy up to the bar for the gala of the season, as the Loews Coral Gables Hotel is transformed into ‘Midnight in Manhattan’, all to benefit the pivotal work of the Coral Gables Community Foundation’s grant making and scholarship programs.
“Midnight in Manhattan is a celebration of the city that never sleeps, but is always dreaming. This year we are literally “raising the bar” as we taxi to Manhattan for one unforgettable night of live music, entertainment, fine dining and dancing in the Big Apple,” said gala co-chair Sissy Koehne, a board member who has spearheaded the gala for the ten years and is joined by co-chairs and fellow Community Foundation Board Members Sadia Raja-Alfonso and Alysa Herman. “We’ve been to Athens and Shanghai, Dehli and Rio, London and Madrid and now we are coming home to the world’s greatest city.”
The Piano Bar will be in full swing. Friendly doormen greet you, the bartender knows your drink, and the pianist gives you a wink. Louis, Sammy, Frank, and Tony Croon, and ivories are tickled. The atmosphere is electric, with the walls telling stories of their own.
Guests will don black ties and gowns or, in keeping with the fun tradition of our annual gala, dress as their favorite New Yorkers, Ralph and Ricki, Jackie and JFK, Billy and Christie, Marilyn and Joe, Donald and Ivana, Frank and Barbara, Babe and Bill, Leona, and Harry.
