Coral Gables Community Foundation goes to New York,
announcing ‘Midnight at The Carlyle’ gala theme

When the clock strikes twelve, the jazz hits a high note, champagne flows, martinis shake, gin pours, and swans swoon- it’s quintessentially The Carlyle, Manhattan’s legendary hotel and world-famous Bemelmens Bar.

On Friday, October 18th, 2024, patrons of the Coral Gables Community Foundation’s annual benefit will cozy up to The Carlyle on Madison Avenue for the gala of the season as the Loews Hotel in Coral Gables is transformed into New York’s iconic landmark, all to benefit the pivotal work of the Community Foundation’s grant-making and scholarship programs.

“Midnight at The Carlyle is a celebration of the city that never sleeps but is always dreaming. This year we are literally “raising the bar” as we taxi to Bemelmens for one unforgettable night of live music, entertainment, fine dining and dancing in the Big Apple,” said gala co-chair Sissy DeMaria Koehne, a Board Member who has spearheaded the gala for the past ten years and is joined by co-chairs and fellow Community Foundation Board Members Sadia Raja-Alfonso and Alysa Herman. “We’ve been to Athens and Shanghai, Dehli and Rio, London and Madrid and now we are coming home to the world’s greatest city.”

Bemelmens Bar will be in full swing at Midnight at The Carlyle. Friendly doormen greet you, the bartender knows your drink, and the pianist gives you a wink. The ivories are tickled. The atmosphere is electric, with the walls telling stories of their own.

Guests will don black tie and gowns or, in keeping with the fun tradition of our annual gala, dress as their favorite New Yorkers.

“This is our most important fundraiser of the year where we honor pillars of the community in the categories of Philanthropy, Legacy, Education, Landmark, Community, Arts & Culture, and Sports & Wellness,” said Mary Snow, President & CEO of the Coral Gables Community Foundation. “Together with our Philanthropic Chairs Trish and Dan Bell, we look forward to saluting these leaders who make Miami a better place for all of us and inspire generosity.”
