Announces Honorees for 2024 Annual Gala
CORAL GABLES –– Eight influential citizens and institutions that have shaped and supported the Coral Gables community will be honored on Friday, October 18th, when the Coral Gables Community Foundation host’s the City Beautiful’s most anticipated black-tie gala.
The annual black-tie affairs reigns as the Foundation’s most important fundraiser, benefiting the pivotal work of the Community Foundation’s grant making and scholarship programs.
All that jazz and much, much more, patrons will enjoy an evening celebrating the City that Never Sleeps, its famed skyscrapers, landmarks, cultural institutions and legendary hotels with their standing room only bars that welcome Wall Street and advertising legends and where Hollywood and Broadway stars mingle with society swans and the finest ateliers bedazzle native New Yorkers.

- Greenberg Traurig Senior Chairman Cesar L. Alvarez for the Legacy Award, the Foundation’s highest accolade;
- Chirine Mneimneh will be recognized with the Community Award;
- Dean Colson will take home the Education Award presented by Trish and Dan Bell;
- Erik Spoelstra will be honored with the Sports & Wellness Award presented by Baptist Health;
- Monty Trainer will receive the Arts & Culture Award presented by Ray Corral & Alina Meledina and Mosaicist;
- Peter & Kerrin Bermont will receive this year’s Philanthropy Award presented by Adam and Chanin Carlin;
- Virginia Miller is the recipient of the Gables Beautiful Award;
- Baptist Health will receive the Landmark Award presented by MG Developer.
“For the last ten years the annual gala has celebrated a different international city traveling for one night to magical faraway places. This year, we are feting the greatest city in the world, New York City, as we honor the people who have lifted our own community in Coral Gables to new heights and propelled the every important mission of the Coral Gables Community Foundation forward,” said Co-Chair Sissy Koehne who has steered the gala for ten years and Midnight in Manhattan co-chairs and fellow Coral Gables Community Foundation Board Members Sadia Raja Alfonso, PhD. and Alyssa Herman, MD.
Loews Executive Chef Ricardo Jarquin has prepared a sumptuous three-course meal rivaling the City’s most famous steakhouses. A number of surprising and memorable moments will delight guests who will shine in their interpretation of an evening in The City That Never Sleeps.
Guests will experience an unforgettable evening of live music from the world-famous Danny Beck band, dancing and dining, while competing in friendly bids for an array of dazzling auction items.
