to 13 Professional Artists in Miami 

Coral Gables Community Foundation grants to be presented Tuesday, May 20th at the UM Lowe Art Museum

CORAL GABLES, FL — (May 20, 2025) The Coral Gables Community Foundation is proud to announce the 2025 recipients of the Corral & Cathers Art Fund. Thirteen Miami-based artists will each receive a $5,000 grant in recognition of their creative work and to support the continued development of their professional practice. 

The awards will be presented on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at the University of Miami’s Lowe Art Museum by entrepreneur and artist Ray Corral and longtime arts advocate Catherine Cathers, whose shared vision led to the creation of this fund in 2023. 

This year, Ray and Catherine are presenting Lowe Art Museum memberships to previous and current award recipients  to inspire their work and encourage scholarly exploration. All artists are being asked to provide images of their work, which will be shared as part of the evening

Spanning a wide range of disciplines—from sculpture and engaging installations to photography and digital media—these 13 artists reflect the creative diversity and vitality of Miami’s visual arts community.

“We’re building something bigger than a grant program,” said Ray Corral, who has supported the arts in Coral Gables for over two decades. “We’re trying to create a lasting cultural ecosystem here—one where artists can thrive, and where donors and institutions invest in the future of our community through the arts.”

The Corral & Cathers Art Fund is housed at the Coral Gables Community Foundation as a Donor Advised Fund, enabling Ray Corral and Catherine Cathers to direct funding each year toward individual artists whose work demonstrates exceptional promise and impact.

“This is Coral Gables at its best,” said Michael Walsh, Chair of the Community Foundation’s Board of Directors. “A community that values the arts, celebrates creativity, and empowers individual donors—like Ray—to use philanthropy as a tool for civic leadership. It’s a model that works.”

The 2025 selection process was guided by an independent jury. The grants may be used for any career-related expenses, including materials, travel, research, and studio costs.
