Jeannett’s Journal

When I moved from St. Louis to Vero Beach and entered the 10th grade, I wanted to be part of the school newspaper, but we lived too far from town for me to remain for after-school editorial sessions. Following college, our overseas military assignments and establishing our home in Coral Gables; I became a member of the Junior League of Miami magazine crew (a great training ground for a future in community service, politics, and journalism).

In 2008, as Chair of the CG Community Foundation, we secured a grant from the Knight Foundation to start an online newsletter for residents of Coral Gables. Now, over the last two years, I have been publishing a monthly e-newsletter from my City Commission office to keep my constituents informed as to issues that impact their lives and property as well as updates regarding events in our City Beautiful. The newsletter that you now hold in your hands is my first expanded issue of “Jeannett’s Journal”. It is being electronically broadcast to approximately 14,000 recipients and mailed to over 10,000 households. We offer sincere “thanks” to the companies whose ads help cover the cost of production and distribution. A big heart-felt “thank you” to my volunteer team for their efforts to collect ideas, edit, and proof the content for your enjoyment. We hope you like our work product which was created with lots of love and affection for our neighbors. Finally, we encourage you to write us with your comments for our next edition.
