Community Needs Assessment 2024
The Coral Gables Community Foundation, in collaboration with the University of Miami’s Community and Educational Well-Being Research Center, has released its inaugural Community Needs Assessment. This comprehensive report identifies key strengths and challenges faced by Coral Gables residents, providing data-driven insights that will guide philanthropy and community development efforts.

Residents expressed pride in the city’s:

- High quality of life and green spaces
- Strong sense of community and walkability
- Public safety and low crime rates
- Rich arts and cultural offerings
Responding to the Findings
In direct response to these community-identified priorities, the Coral Gables Community Foundation is:
• Realigning grant-making efforts to support local organizations addressing these top needs.
• Launching an earlier application period for its Community Giving Program. Beginning February 3, 2025, Letters of Inquiry (LOIs) will be accepted from organizations working in these focus areas, alongside legacy funding categories like Arts & Culture, Historic Preservation & Placemaking, and Social & Human Services.
Top Community Priorities and Needs
Housing Affordability (38%)Residents are concerned about the lack of workforce housing, which contributes to economic disparities and limits community diversity.
Local Government (36%)There is a desire for greater transparency, improved civility in governance, and more responsive city services.
Bicycle Safety and Infrastructure (24%)Enhanced bike lane safety and education on safe cycling practices are critical priorities for residents.
Climate Resilience (21%)Concerns over frequent flooding, extreme heat, and storm preparedness highlight the need for sustainable resilience strategies.
Public Education (15%)Residents seek improved school resources and more integration of arts and cultural programs into education.
