The Robert & Marian Fewell Memorial Scholarship
The Robert & Marian Fewell Memorial Scholarship commemorates a couple whose philanthropic leadership defined Coral Gables for over half a century. Robert Janes Fewell, a former Chairman of the Coral Gables Community Foundation, and Marian G. Fewell, a dedicated advocate for local arts and beautification, were instrumental in the city’s most significant cultural milestones, including the preservation of the Biltmore Hotel and the establishment of the Coral Gables Museum.
This scholarship continues their commitment to community welfare by providing a $10,000 award over four years to a graduating senior at Coral Gables Senior High School. Specifically designed for students pursuing degrees in nursing or medicine at an accredited institution, the award seeks to alleviate the financial burden for those dedicated to the healing arts. By fostering local talent in healthcare, the scholarship ensures that the Fewells’ legacy of civic devotion translates into tangible support for the next generation of medical professionals.
ELIGIBLE STUDENTS
Coral Gables Senior High School
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum unweighted GPA of 3.0
Plans to study nursing or pre-medicine courses at an accredited four-year college or university.
Has a financial need (provide a FAFSA score report).
SAT or ACT score report required.
Letter of Recommendation from a teacher, counselor, mentor, coach or supervisor on a job/project
SUBJECT AREA
The student may use this award to study nursing or pre-medicine coursework.
VALUE
This is a four-year award worth $10,000. It will be paid to the bursar’s office at the student’s selected university.
RENEWAL
The student must maintain a Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better while in college.
