The fund was created by Lady Tweed before her passing in 1994. It reflected her love for children and her desire to help deserving students continue their education. Lady Tweed desired to have a scholarship program benefiting students’ commitment to education, volunteerism and leadership. It is maintained with care by Roy Gonas.
ELIGIBLE STUDENTS
- Attended Coral Gables Senior High at least two years, including the Senior Year
SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA
- Demonstrate all-around excellence in academics, athletics and/or extra-curricular activities
- Minimum unweighted GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Enroll as a full-time undergraduate student in an accredited college or university.
- Pursue any recognized course of study
- Demonstrate financial need (provide FAFSA score report)
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
- High school transcript
- SAT or ACT score report required
- Summary of community service and activities, community service hours.
- Personal statement explaining financial need
- Essay indicating how this scholarship would help you achieve your educational goals. (250-500 words)
VALUE
Value of Scholarship is $1,000. One-year term.
